2020 Special
Neighborhood Meeting
Following the postponement of our 2020 Annual Meeting due to COVID-19, the WA Board of Directors passed a resolution detailing inevitable changes to operations, including digital voting procedures for Committee level and Board work, cancellation of other community events, and the appointment of all four 2020 Board candidates who were still able and interested in serving the neighborhood in this capacity for the ever more important work in front of us.
One major item of business that was tabled by the cancellation of the Annual Meeting is a community presentation, discussion, and vote on the Whittier Alliance's By-Laws -- one of the key governing documents outlining how the organization is structured and activities are carried out. Throughout the latter half of 2019 and early 2020, a task force of WA Board members dedicated much time, energy, and research into a proposal for revisions to our By-Laws with the goal of ensuring more equitable access to participation and decision-making from the community.

Meet the newly appointed Candidates to the WA Board of Directors!
The indefinite postponement of the Annual Meeting due to COVID-19 meant that we were not able to hold a community election for our at-large Board candidates. With an uncontested election (the number of eligible candidates was equal to or less than the number of available seats up for election) and continued uncertainty around large community gatherings this year, the existing WA Board chose to appoint the 2020 candidates to the open seats they would have been elected to at the Annual Meeting by acclamation. Get to know our 2020-2023 Board of Directors delegation!
