Candidate for Resident Seat, 2021 - 2024
Why are you interested in serving on the WA Board of Directors?
I love serving my community, and hope to be apart of bringing real change to the people around me.
What experiences, talents, or perspectives do you possess that you feel would be an asset to the Whittier Alliance?
I have over five years of event planning experience, I own a photography business, and as a person of color I know first hand the obstacles minorities face on a daily basis.
Describe any experiences you’ve had in serving the neighborhood and/or larger community. (Volunteer positions, committees, organizations, businesses, etc.)
Organizing food and essentials for families in need at the Baha'i Center, volunteering at George Floyd square, feeding our unhoused friends in Powderhorn Park, Hands on Twin Cities during MLK Jr day, putting together school supplies for kids in need.
Within a world riddled with injustices and disparities, the above is a big undertaking. As an organization, the Whittier Alliance is trying, failing, progressing, learning and growing in these pursuits of equity and inclusion. However big or small, how would you support these efforts as a board member?
I will commit to educating all members anti-racist, equity-driven and inclusive approaches to community.
