2025 Whittier Alliance Annual Meeting and Board Election
Annual Meeting Voting Information
Our Annual Meeting this year will be virtual and asynchronous! What does that mean?
Our Annual Meeting video will be released at 9am on April 27. We’ll post a video with updates from our Board, Executive Director, and committee chairs. We’ll also have the info in written form.
Nominations from the floor will be open from 4/27-5/1. You can make a nomination from the floor via email (info@whittieralliance.org), phone (612-871-7756) or in person (10 E 25th St, 10am-4pm, Mon-Fri). Floor nominations will be voted on in person during Neighborhood Day (5/3, 11am-1pm, Whittier Rec Center).
Voting in the annual election will open at 5pm on Saturday May 3rd. Verified voters who submit an email will automatically be sent an electronic ballot to vote online. Those without email, or who prefer to vote in person can do so at the Whittier Alliance office.
Voting will close at 5pm on May 9th. Election results will be announced during the week of May 10th.
What are we voting on?
Every year we vote on a slate of candidates to join our Board of Directors, standing committees for the coming year and any new business proposed during the call for nominations from the floor.
Whittier residents, property and business owners are all members who can exercise their voting rights once they are registered to vote with us.
A Voter Guide is available to learn about Board candidates and questions, and will be updated as candidates apply.

Run for the Whittier Alliance Board of Directors
Whittier Alliance is a nonprofit organization, which means we are governed by a board of directors. The board helps guide our strategic thinking as an organization and ensures that we’re acting responsibly financially. They also support special projects or events as needed.
There are no professional qualifications needed to serve on our board (although you do need to be over the age of 18, a registered WA voter, and have attended a WA event in the past year). It can be helpful to have some experience with nonprofit finances, event management, nonprofit operations, or community development, but you can apply for the board without experience in any of those areas.
Our board members serve for limited terms, so we have an annual election for board members whose terms are ending. This year, there are 7 open seats: 4 resident representative seats, 1 non-profit representative seat, one for profit/property owner (non-resident) business representative seat, and one seat representing either a non-profit or for profit business.
