Whittier Alliance is partnering with the City of Minneapolis Public Works Department to offer FREE snow shoveling this winter to residents who are 65+ years old, disabled, or have a temporary illness or injury preventing them from shoveling.
Shoveling will include the public sidewalk, sidewalk leading up to your home's front door, and the area around trash/recycling/compost bins. Snow clearing is expected to occur 24 hours after each snowfall but is not guaranteed. The program will communicate with residents about delays of service. Programming may not be able to clear all parts of your property.
You must live in Whittier (35W to Lyndale Ave / Franklin Ave to Lake Street) to be eligible for this program.

Shoveler Interest Form
Whittier Alliance is partnering with the City of Minneapolis Public Works Department to offer FREE snow shoveling this winter to residents who are 65+ years old, disabled, or have a temporary illness or injury preventing them from shoveling.
This is a temporary contract seasonal position and hours will vary depending on snowfall. You will be assigned shoveling addresses and will be responsible for shoveling those addresses within 24 hours of snow event. Whittier Alliance staff will work with you to assign you a number of addresses that you are confident that you would be able to shovel with the 24 hour period. Shovelers will be responsible for shoveling the public sidewalk, sidewalk leading up to the home's front door, and the area around trash/recycling/compost bins.
Whittier Alliance will provide shovels and sand/salt. Whittier Alliance will also provide a brief training prior to the start of the program.
This contract position will pay $25/hour and will run until April 2026.
