We’re thrilled to announce that we have officially SOLD 2116 Nicollet Ave to Alliance Housing and construction is now beginning!
If you’re wondering what that means, here’s the quick rundown. In 2021, Whittier Alliance bought a vacant lot at 2116 Nicollet Ave. The idea was to find a way to turn it into affordable housing.
We released a request for proposals from developers and selected Alliance Housing to move forward as the developer in fall of 2021.
It’s been a long road since then! But this year, Alliance Housing fully secured funding for the project, and they officially bought the lot from us in late July of 2026.
Once built, 2116 Nicollet Ave will have 50 units of deeply affordable housing, aimed at creating beautiful, dignified housing for folks who can’t afford what’s currently available. The building will also be the new office for both Alliance Housing and Whittier Alliance. Whittier Alliance will also manage a sliding-scale community event space on site.

Public Art + Naming Survey
Alliance Housing is now working with Whittier Alliance to get feedback on two critical components of the new building: the public art on the terrace, and a permanent name for the building.
We're looking for your feedback! In this survey, you can vote on your preferred public art design and propose a name for the building. The feedback we receive will be an important component of the decision-making process for both the art and building name.
