Community Engagement Committee (CE) Overview
In 2021, the Community Engagement Committee will gather at least once per quarter in meetings on variety of topics relevant to Whittier as they arise or in the form of free community-building events. Recent meeting topics have included transportation projects at the City, County, and State level impacting Whittier, civic engagement opportunities such as the 2020 Census, and group discussions on the Whittier Alliance's governing documents, among many others. Planning and support for various free community building events has most recently included the Great Whittier Get Together, the Community Iftar in May 2019, and Whittier Alliance's engagement efforts at the Eat Street Food, Music, & Arts Festival, and our annual Volunteer & Community Appreciation event in December.
The structure of this Committee was under evaluation throughout 2020 to ensure that more community interests can be represented and supported by the body and will be further detailed at the 2021 Annual Meeting on May 26th, 2021 via Zoom. If you'd like to learn more about ways to be involved in this work, reach out to [email protected] to be connected.
Do you have an idea you'd like to share, or a project you'd like to support? A question about an issue? Maybe you're looking to get involved with local initiatives and meet more of your neighbors. The Community Engagement Committee and Housing and Land Use Committee are great places to start.
