A candidate debate between Marion Greene and Abdihakim Ibrahim meets live improv in this episode of The Theater of Public Policy.
Join Danger Boat Productions, Whittier Alliance, the Lyndale Neighborhood Association, and other District 3 neighborhoods for a spirited discussion between the two candidates for District 3 Hennepin County Commissioner: incumbent Marion Greene and challenger Abdihakim Ibrahim.
About the Office
County commissioners have a hand in MANY aspects of daily life in the Twin Cities metro beyond driver’s licenses and marriage certificates: housing, waste management, public safety, infrastructure, healthcare…the list goes on. The 7-person board of commissioners manages a budget upwards of $3 billion every year.
Here's how the evening will work:
Moderated Debate: Host Tane Danger will ask each candidate how they plan to balance the budget and manage priorities in the commissioner role, including the future of HCMC amidst a catastrophic loss of cash reserves; whether (and how) HERC will close; and the county’s relationship to state and federal government.
Improv: The Danger Boat cast comes to the stage to perform entirely spontaneous comedy scenes based on the debate.
Audience Q&A: We'll open it up to the audience to ask questions, which the candidates will answer live onstage.
Improv (again!): The show wraps with a final round of improv from our performers.
