The Whittier Alliance is administering its eighth annual cycle of Youth Micro-Grants, which provide up to $6,000 per applicant for a period of up to one year to support organizations serving Whittier youth. In 2017, the Whittier Alliance awarded over $35,000 in youth grant funding.
Any nonprofit organization or institution that provides services, activities, educational enrichment, and other positive programming for youth in Whittier is eligible to receive funding. The Whittier Neighborhood’s boundaries are Franklin Avenue on the north, Lake Street on the south, I-35W on the east, and Lyndale Avenue on the west.
Strong proposals will align with Whittier’s Strategic Plan goals. Additional criteria will score the proposals’ potential impact on Whittier youth, a clear definition and outline of projects, and the strength and feasibility of community outreach strategies.
Grant recipients will be selected in mid-January 2018 by a neighborhood review panel.
