The Whittier Alliance & Master Water Stewards are installing a rain garden in Whittier on Saturday, October 1 from 10am-5pm at 2422 Pillsbury Ave S. You are invited to learn, snack, chat, and dig if you like! There will be fun and learning for the whole family.
Why Rain Gardens?
Urban runoff carries pollutants into our lakes, streams
and rivers, causing unsightly and sometimes toxic
algal blooms, as well as other sorts of pollution that
are less visible but just as detrimental to water
quality. Raingardens help to capture and filter
runoff. Native wildflowers and grasses also provide
struggling bee and butterfly populations with high quality
food and habitat.
